Catecholate Siderophores from Chryseomonas luteola*

Under iron-limited conditions many bacterial species biosynthesize Fe3+ complexing compounds, so-called siderophores. Their most common struc tural features are hydroxamate and/or catecholate units, the latter ones mostly derived from 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid attached to amino acids, amino alcohols or aliphatic diamines. We wish now to re port the isolation and structure elucidation of two c...

Mediastinal Hydatid Cyst Mimicking Malignant Mediastinal Neurogenic Tumor

Hydatid disease is caused by Echinococcus granulosus parasite. It is an endemic disease; particularly in many Mediterranean countries. The liver and the lungs are most frequently involved. Bone involvement is reported in 1% 2% of the cases and about 50% of those are seen in the spine. Herein we report a case of primary spinal extradural hydatid cyst that caused paraplegia due to compression of ...

Anaplastic cutaneous lymphoma mimicking an infection.

We present a case of a 17-year-old boy who presented with a skin lesion with extension to the soft tissues of the left thigh. On ultrasound, a homogeneous and hypoechoic expansile formation in the subcutaneous tissue was found, measuring 6.5 × 5 × 3.5 cm, with scarce vascularization. Computed tomography showed a low attenuating neoformation with surrounding edema. An inflammatory disorder was t...

Chryseomonas luteola identified as the source of serious infections in a Moroccan University Hospital.

Chryseomonas luteola has only rarely been reported as a human bacterial pathogen. It has been shown that this organism in particular affects patients with health or indwelling disorders. Most reported cases showed septicemia, meningitis, endocarditis, or peritonitis. Two C. luteola infections observed in Morocco are described in the present study.
